ଅନୁଗୋଳ: ଅନୁଗୋଳ ବିଧାନସଭା ଅନ୍ତର୍ଗତ ଖଲାରୀ ପଞ୍ଚାୟତର ଖମାରଠାରେ ୨ କୋଟି ୪୩ ଲକ୍ଷ ଟଙ୍କା ବ୍ୟୟରେ ନିର୍ମିତ ସରକାରୀ ଉଚ୍ଚ ପ୍ରାଥମିକ ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟର ନୂତନ ଗୃହ ଉଦ୍‌ଘାଟିତ ହୋଇଛି। ଅନୁଗୋଳ ବିଧାୟକ ପ୍ରତାପ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ର ପ୍ରଧାନ ମୁଖ୍ୟଅତିଥି ଭାବେ ଯୋଗଦେଇ ନୂତନ ଗୃହର ଉଦ୍‌ଘାଟନ କରିଥିଲେ। ନୂଆ ଭିତ୍ତିଭୂମି ଦ୍ୱାରା ଛାତ୍ରଛାତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ପାଠପଢ଼ା ପାଇଁ ଉନ୍ନତ ଓ ସୁବିଧାଜନକ ପରିବେଶ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହେବ ବୋଲି ଆଶା ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଇଛି। କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକ୍ରମରେ ଶିକ୍ଷା ବିଭାଗର ଅଧିକାରୀ, ଖଲାରୀ ସରପଞ୍ଚ, ସମିତି ସଭ୍ୟ, ଜନପ୍ରତିନିଧି, ଶିକ୍ଷକ-ଶିକ୍ଷୟିତ୍ରୀ ଓ ଛାତ୍ରଛାତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ସମେତ ବହୁ ଅତିଥି ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ଥିଲେ।

ତାଳଚେର: ପୂଜ୍ୟ ସ୍ୱାମୀ ବେଦାନ୍ତ କେଶରୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମଣାନନ୍ଦ ସରସ୍ୱତୀଙ୍କ ପବିତ୍ର ଜନ୍ମସ୍ଥାନ ଗୁରୁଜାଙ୍ଗ ଗ୍ରାମରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ମୁଖ୍ୟମନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ମୋହନ ଚରଣ ମାଝୀଙ୍କୁ ଭବ୍ୟ ସ୍ୱାଗତ ଜଣାଯାଇଛି। ମୁଖ୍ୟମନ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ଗୁରୁଜାଙ୍ଗ ଗସ୍ତ ଅବସରରେ ବିଧାୟକ ଶ୍ରୀ ଅଶୋକ ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ସମେତ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ଜନପ୍ରତିନିଧି, ଦଳୀୟ କର୍ମକର୍ତ୍ତା ଓ ବହୁ ସଂଖ୍ୟକ ଅଞ୍ଚଳବାସୀ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ରହି ତାଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ୱାଗତ କରିଥିଲେ। ଏହାକୁ ନେଇ ଗ୍ରାମରେ ଉତ୍ସାହ ଓ ଆନନ୍ଦର ପରିବେଶ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଥିଲା। ସ୍ୱାମୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମଣାନନ୍ଦ ସରସ୍ୱତୀଙ୍କ ପବିତ୍ର ଜନ୍ମମାଟିରେ ମୁଖ୍ୟମନ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ଆଗମନକୁ ନେଇ ଅଞ୍ଚଳବାସୀଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିଶେଷ ଉତ୍ସାହ ପରିଲକ୍ଷିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଏହି ଅବସରରେ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ବିକାଶ, ଜନସାଧାରଣଙ୍କ ସମସ୍ୟା ଓ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଜନକଲ୍ୟାଣମୂଳକ ଆଶା-ଆକାଂକ୍ଷା ସମ୍ପର୍କରେ ମୁଖ୍ୟମନ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଅବଗତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା।

ଭଦ୍ରକ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଧାମନଗର ବ୍ଲକ ବାୟାଙ୍ଗଡିହ ପଞ୍ଚାୟତ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରେ ବନ୍ୟା ପରିସ୍ଥିତିରେ ଜଣେ ଯବାନଙ୍କ ମାନବିକତା ଏବେ ଚର୍ଚ୍ଚାର ବିଷୟ ପାଲଟିଛି। ଦେଶର ସୁରକ୍ଷା ଦାୟିତ୍ୱ ତୁଲାଉଥିବା ଏହି ଯବାନ ନିଜ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ବନ୍ୟାପୀଡ଼ିତ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ସହାୟତା ପାଇଁ ପାଣି ଭିତରକୁ ପଶି ଆଗେଇ ଆସିଛନ୍ତି। ବନ୍ୟାଜଳ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପହଞ୍ଚି ଗରିବ ଓ ଅସହାୟ ପରିବାରଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ଚୁଡ଼ା, ମୁଢ଼ି, ଗୁଡ଼, ପାଲ ସମେତ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଆବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ସାମଗ୍ରୀ ବଣ୍ଟନ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ତାଙ୍କ ଏହି ମାନବିକ ପ୍ରୟାସ ବିପଦ ସମୟରେ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ମନରେ ଆଶା ଓ ସାହସ ଭରିଦେଇଛି। ଦେଶ ସେବା ସହ ନିଜ ମାଟିର ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଏଭଳି ସେବା ଓ ସମର୍ପଣ ପାଇଁ ଅଞ୍ଚଳବାସୀଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ଯବାନଙ୍କୁ ଅନେକ ଅନେକ ସାଧୁବାଦ। 🇮🇳🙏 “ବର୍ଦ୍ଦିରେ ଦେଶସେବା, ବନ୍ୟାରେ ମାନବସେବା—ଏହି ହେଉଛି ପ୍ରକୃତ ଯବାନଙ୍କ ପରିଚୟ।”

ବିଜେପୁର :ପଦ୍ମପୁର ରାସ୍ତାର ପହଣ୍ଡି ଗ୍ରାମ ନିକଟରେ ଗୁରୁବାର ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟାରେ ଏକ ଲୁଟ୍‌ ଓ ଆକ୍ରମଣ ଘଟଣାକୁ ନେଇ ଚାଞ୍ଚଲ୍ୟ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଛି। ତିନିଜଣ ଦୁର୍ବୃତ୍ତ ବାଇକ୍‌ରେ ଆସି ରାସ୍ତା ପଚାରିବା ବାହାନାରେ ମହିଳାଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସୁନା ଗହଣା ଲୁଟ୍‌ କରିବା ସହ ଭୁଜାଲି ଦେଖାଇ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରିଥିବା ଅଭିଯୋଗ ହୋଇଛି।ଅଭିଯୋଗ ଅନୁସାରେ, ଦୁର୍ବୃତ୍ତମାନେ ପଦ୍ମପୁର ଯିବା ରାସ୍ତା ପଚାରିବା ପରେ ଜଣେ ମହିଳାଙ୍କ ଶାଢ଼ୀ ଟାଣିଥିଲେ। ପରେ ଭୁଜାଲି ଦେଖାଇ ସୁନା ଗହଣା ଲୁଟି ନେଇଥିବା ଅଭିଯୋଗ ହୋଇଛି।ଲୁଟ୍‌କୁ ପ୍ରତିବାଦ କରିବାରୁ ଦୁର୍ବୃତ୍ତମାନେ ଭୁଜାଲିରେ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରିଥିବା ଜଣାପଡ଼ିଛି।ଘଟଣାରେ ୩ ଜଣ ଆହତ ହୋଇଥିବାବେଳେ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ୨ ଜଣ ମହିଳା ଅଛନ୍ତି।ଆହତମାନେ ଝିର୍ଲି ଗ୍ରାମର ବୋଲି ପ୍ରାଥମିକ ସୂଚନା ମିଳିଛି। ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ସହାୟତାରେ ଆହତମାନଙ୍କୁ ବିଜେପୁର ହସ୍ପିଟାଲକୁ ନିଆଯାଇଥିବାବେଳେ ସେଠାରେ ଚିକିତ୍ସା ଚାଲିଛି।ଏ ସମ୍ପର୍କରେ ବିଜେପୁର ଥାନା ଅଧିକାରୀ ସୁଶାନ୍ତ ମଣି ମହାନ୍ତିଙ୍କ ସହ ଯୋଗାଯୋଗ କରିବାରୁ, ଘଟଣାର ଛାନ୍‌ଭିନ୍‌ ଚାଲିଥିବା ସେ ସୂଚନା ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି। ପ୍ରାଥମିକ ସୂଚନା ଅନୁସାରେ, ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା ପ୍ରାୟ ୭ଟାରୁ ୮ଟା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଏହି ଘଟଣା ଘଟିଥିବା ଥାନା ଅଧିକାରୀ କହିଛନ୍ତି।ତେବେ କେତେ ପରିମାଣର ସୁନା ଲୁଟ୍‌ ହୋଇଛି ଏବଂ ଘଟଣାରେ ସମ୍ପୃକ୍ତ ଦୁର୍ବୃତ୍ତମାନେ କିଏ, ସେନେଇ ପୋଲିସ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ତଦନ୍ତ ଜାରି ରହିଛି। ଘଟଣା ପରେ ପହଣ୍ଡି ଓ ଏହାର ଆଖପାଖ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରେ ଭୟର ବାତାବରଣ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଛି।

Sinapali, August 21: The rural children’s park at Bhuaruamunda village under Sinapali Block in Nuapada district is now lying in a state of neglect. Located in front of the Gram Panchayat office, the park has gradually lost its charm and has turned almost into a jungle due to the lack of regular maintenance. The park was developed to provide children with a safe and enjoyable place for playing and recreation. However, the absence of regular cleaning has allowed weeds, wild grass and unwanted plants to grow extensively across the premises. As a result, children are finding it difficult to enter the park, let alone use it for playing. According to local residents, the park is an important recreational space for children in the village. If properly maintained, it could also serve as a pleasant place for adults to spend time during the morning and evening. However, due to prolonged neglect, the condition of the park has been deteriorating day by day. Residents have urged the authorities to immediately clear the overgrown vegetation and garbage, inspect the play equipment and carry out necessary repairs. They have also demanded a system for regular cleaning and maintenance of the park. As the neglected children’s park is located right in front of the Gram Panchayat office, locals have expressed concern over the lack of attention to its condition. They have appealed to the concerned department and Gram Panchayat to take immediate steps to clean, beautify and restore the park so that children and residents can once again make proper use of the facility.

କଳାହାଣ୍ଡି, କୋକସରା ୨୦/୦୮: କଳାହାଣ୍ଡି ଜିଲ୍ଲା, କୋକସରା ବ୍ଲକ, ଖୁଣ୍ଟିଆ ଓ ମିର୍ଜାପୁର ରାସ୍ତାରେ ପଡ଼ୁଥିବା ଦୁର୍ବଳ ପୋଲ ସମସ୍ୟାକୁ ନେଇ କଳିଙ୍ଗ ୨୪ ନିଉଜ୍ ରେ ଖବର ପ୍ରସାରଣ କଲା ପରେ ତତ୍ପରତା ଦେଖାଇ ବାଇପାସ୍ ରାସ୍ତା ନିର୍ମାଣ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଛି କେନାଲ ବିଭାଗ। ସୂଚନା ଅନୁସାରେ ଉକ୍ତ ଦୁର୍ବଳ ପୋଲ ଯୋଗୁଁ କେନାଲ ବିଭାଗ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ରାସ୍ତାକୁ ବନ୍ଦ କରାଯିବା ଫଳରେ ଗାଁ ତଥା ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ଲୋକେ,ଛାତ୍ରଛାତ୍ରୀ ଯିବା ଆସିବାରେ ଘୋର୍ ସମସ୍ୟାର ସମ୍ମୁଖୀନ ହେଉଥିଲେ। କେନାଲ ରାସ୍ତାରେ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଦୁଇ କିମି ବୁଲି ବିଜୁ ଏକ୍ସପ୍ରେସ ୱେ ଦେଇ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଯିବାକୁ ପଡୁଥିଲା। ଉକ୍ତ କେନାଲ ରାସ୍ତା ମଧ୍ଯ ବର୍ଷା ପାଣି କାଦୁଅରେ ପଚ୍ ପଚ୍ କରୁ ଥିବାରୁ ସମସ୍ତେ ଅନେକ ସମସ୍ୟା ଭୋଗୁଥିବା ବେଳେ ଗାଡ଼ି ମଟର ମଧ୍ଯ ରାସ୍ତାରେ ଫସିକି ରହି ଯାଉଥିଲା। ଏହି ସମସ୍ୟାକୁ ନେଇ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ସାମ୍ବାଦିକ ରୁପେନ୍ଦ୍ର ସୁନାନୀ ଦୁଇ ଦିନ ତଳେ କଳିଙ୍ଗ ୨୪ ନିଉଜ୍ ରେ ଖବର ପ୍ରସାରଣ କରିଥିଲେ। ଖବର ପ୍ରସାରଣ ହେବାର ଦିନକ ପରେ ଅପର ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରାବତୀ ବାମ କେନାଲ ବିଭାଗ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ତତ୍ପରତା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରି ବାଇ ପାସ୍ ରାସ୍ତା ନିର୍ମାଣ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ଫଳରେ ବାଇ ପାସ୍ ରାସ୍ତା ନିର୍ମାଣ ହେଲେ ଯାହା ହେଲେ ବି ଗାଁ ତଥା ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ଲୋକ, ଛାତ୍ରଛାତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ କିଛି ଟା ସମସ୍ୟାର ସମାଧାନ ହେବ ବୋଲି ଆଶା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିବା ସହ କେନାଲ ବିଭାଗକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ୍ ଜଣାଇଛନ୍ତି। ତତ୍ ସହିତ ପୁନର୍ବାର ଟେଣ୍ଡର ପ୍ରକ୍ରିୟା ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଦୁର୍ବଳ ପୋଲକୁ ଭାଙ୍ଗି ନୂତନ ପୋଲ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବାକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ଦାବୀ ହେଉଛି।

ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ଉନ୍ନୟନ ଅଧିକାରୀଙ୍କ ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷତାରେ ସମନ୍ୱିତ ଶିଶୁ ବିକାଶ ଯୋଜନା ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଶିଶୁ ବିକାଶ ଯୋଜନା ଅଧିକାରୀ ମଞ୍ଜୁଲତା ନାୟକଙ୍କ ତତ୍ତ୍ୱାବଧାନରେ ଜଟଣୀ ବ୍ଲକସ୍ଥ ମିଶନ ଶକ୍ତି ପରିସରରେ "ବେଟି ବଚାଓ ଓ ବେଟି ପଢ଼ାଓ " କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକ୍ରମ ଅନୁଷ୍ଠିତ ହୋଇଯାଇଛି। ଉକ୍ତ କାର୍ଯୟକ୍ରମରେ ସମସ୍ତ ବିଭାଗ ତଥ ଶିକ୍ଷା ,ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ,ପଞ୍ଚାୟତ ସମିତି,ପୋଲିସ ସୁରକ୍ଷା ବିଭାଗ ତରଫରୁ ଗ୍ରହଣ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ଉନ୍ନୟନ ଅଧିକାରୀ ସଲିଳ କୁମାର ଦାସ,ଅତିରିକ୍ତ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ଶିକ୍ଷା ଅଧିକାରୀ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ର ବେହେରା,ପି. ଏଚ.ଓ ଶାନ୍ତିଲତା ଦେଇ,ଜିଲ୍ଲା ସଂଯୋଜକ ସୁମିତା ମହାନ୍ତି ଓ ଶଶି ଭୂଷଣ ନାୟକ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ରହି ଏହି କାର୍ଯୟକ୍ରମକୁ ତ୍ୱରାନ୍ୱିତ କରିଥିଲେ।ଏହି କାର୍ଯୟକ୍ରମରେ ସମସ୍ତପରିଦରଶୀକା,ଅଙ୍ଗନବାଡି କର୍ମୀ,ସ୍ୱୟଂ ସହାୟିକା ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ,ସି.ଆର.ସି.ସି ଓ କିଶୋରୀ ବାଳିକା ମାନେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ଥିଲେ।ଏହି ପରିପ୍ରେକ୍ଷୀରେ ମେଧାବୀ କିଶୋରୀ ମମତାହାନା ଯୁକୃଫୁଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ବର୍ଦ୍ଧିତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା।ସମସ୍ତ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକ୍ରମକୁ ସଂଯୋଜନା କରିଥିଲେ ସି.ଆର.ସି.ସି ଡ. ରଶ୍ମିତା ନାୟକ।ପରିଶେଷରେ ଧନ୍ୟବାଦ ଅର୍ପଣ କରିଥିଲେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ପ୍ରିୟା ସାହୁ ।

ଖୋର୍ଦ୍ଧା-: ବୋଲଗଡ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ଶିକ୍ଷା ମଣ୍ଡଳ ଅଧୀନ ମୁଗମଣ୍ଡା ଦେବଗୁରୁ ଆଦର୍ଶ ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟରେ ଜଣ୍ଡିସ ଚିହ୍ନଟ ହେବା ପରେ ଆତଙ୍କ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଛି। ଡାକ୍ତରୀ ପରୀକ୍ଷାରୁ ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟର ୭ ଜଣ ଛାତ୍ରଛାତ୍ରୀ ଜଣ୍ଡିସରେ ଆକ୍ରାନ୍ତ ହୋଇଥିବା ଜଣାପଡ଼ିଛି।ସତର୍କତାମୂଳକ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ ଭାବେ ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟକୁ ୧୫ ଦିନ ପାଇଁ ବନ୍ଦ କରାଯାଇଥିବା ବେଳେ ଛାତ୍ରାବାସକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ବନ୍ଦ କରାଯାଇଛି। ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ପରିସରକୁ ଶୋଧନ କରାଯିବା ସହ ସଂକ୍ରମଣ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରଣ ପାଇଁ ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ ନିଆଯାଇଛି। ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ପରିସରରେ ଥିବା ଖୋଲା କୂଅର ପାଣିରୁ ସଂକ୍ରମଣ ହୋଇଥିବା ନେଇ ସନ୍ଦେହ ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଇଛି।ବାଂକୋଇ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟକେନ୍ଦ୍ରର ସୁପରିଟେଣ୍ଡେଣ୍ଟ ଅସିତ ମୋହନ ମହାପାତ୍ରଙ୍କ ନେତୃତ୍ୱରେ ଡାକ୍ତରୀ ଦଳ ନିୟମିତ ଭାବେ ଛାତ୍ରଛାତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ପରୀକ୍ଷା କରୁଛନ୍ତି। ସେହିପରି ବିଇଓ ପ୍ରମୋଦ କୁମାର ସ୍ୱାଇଁ ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟକୁ ଯାଇ ପରିସ୍ଥିତି ଅନୁଧ୍ୟାନ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟ ୧୫ ଦିନ ବନ୍ଦ ରହିବା ସମୟରେ ଆଭାସୀ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଶିକ୍ଷାଦାନ ଜାରି ରଖିବାକୁ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶ ଦିଆଯାଇଛି। ପ୍ରଧାନଶିକ୍ଷକ କିଶୋର ଚନ୍ଦ୍ର ସାହୁଙ୍କ ସୂଚନା ଅନୁଯାୟୀ, ବିଦ୍ୟାଳୟର ୧୦୦ ଜଣ ଛାତ୍ରଛାତ୍ରୀ ଓ ୨୦ ଜଣ କର୍ମଚାରୀଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ପରୀକ୍ଷା କରାଯାଇଛି।ଜଣ୍ଡିସ ନିରାକରଣ ଓ ସଂକ୍ରମଣ ରୋକିବା ପାଇଁ ଶିକ୍ଷା ବିଭାଗ ଏବଂ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ବିଭାଗ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ସମସ୍ତ ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ନିଆଯାଇଥିବା ଜଣାପଡ଼ିଛି।

The Upper Indravati Left Canal Division has begun constructing a bypass road after a news report highlighted the plight of commuters caused by a weak bridge on the Khuntia–Mirzapur road in Kokasara block of Kalahandi district. According to local residents, the deteriorated bridge had forced the Canal Department to close the road, creating severe inconvenience for villagers, students, and daily commuters. As a result, people had to travel nearly two kilometres through the Biju Expressway to reach their destinations. The alternative canal road had also become muddy and slippery due to continuous rainfall, making movement difficult for pedestrians and causing vehicles to get stranded frequently. The issue was reported by local journalist Rupendra Sunani on Kalinga 24 News two days earlier. Following the news coverage, the Upper Indravati Left Canal Division responded promptly and initiated the construction of a bypass road as a temporary solution. Residents have welcomed the department's swift response, expressing hope that the bypass road will provide much-needed relief to villagers and students until a permanent solution is implemented. They also thanked the Canal Department for taking immediate action. At the same time, locals have urged the authorities to expedite the tender process for demolishing the unsafe bridge and constructing a new permanent bridge to ensure safe and uninterrupted connectivity in the area.

Boden: In a shocking incident that has brought shame to the sacred bond between a father and son, a 35-year-old man allegedly beat his 65-year-old father to death with a brick at Baglor Kutia Pada under Boden police station limits in Nuapada district. The incident, reportedly fuelled by alcohol and a family dispute, has sent shockwaves across the locality. The deceased has been identified as Bhushan Majhi (65), while the accused son is Binod Majhi (35). According to local sources, Binod allegedly returned home in an intoxicated condition late Wednesday night after an altercation with his wife. He subsequently got into an argument with his father over an unspecified issue. In a fit of rage, he allegedly picked up a brick lying inside the house and repeatedly struck his father on the head and face. The elderly man sustained severe injuries and suffered heavy bleeding. He reportedly died on the spot. What makes the incident even more disturbing is that after the alleged killing, the accused did not immediately flee the house but remained near his father’s body. Neighbours who came to know about the incident informed Boden police. On receiving the information, a police team led by Boden police station IIC Dharmendra Bhoi rushed to the spot. A scientific team also visited the scene and collected necessary evidence as part of the investigation. Police seized the body and sent it to Boden Hospital for post-mortem examination. Further legal formalities will be completed after the autopsy, police said. A murder case has been registered at Boden police station, and the accused has been arrested. He will be produced before the court and sent to judicial custody, police said. Further investigation into the incident is underway. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Baglor Kutia Pada. Villagers described the deceased as a quiet and peace-loving person. Locals also alleged that the accused had a history of quarrelling with family members and was frequently under the influence of alcohol. The gruesome incident has once again raised concerns over the devastating consequences of alcohol abuse and domestic conflict. A son, who is expected to become his father’s support in old age, allegedly turning into the cause of his death has left the community deeply disturbed. The incident stands as a grim reminder that addiction and uncontrolled anger can destroy not only an individual but an entire family—and leave behind a wound that can never be healed.
