After spending nearly five months working as migrant labourers in other states to earn a livelihood, many workers have now started returning to their native villages. As the agricultural season begins, they are preparing to engage in farming activities on their own lands. The long-awaited reunion with family members has brought joy and a festive atmosphere to rural communities. Nuapada district has long been known for the persistent issue of labour migration. Due to the lack of adequate and permanent employment opportunities in the region, thousands of workers leave their homes every year and travel to states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and others in search of work. However, with the onset of the monsoon and the farming season, the pull of their native soil brings them back to their villages. Yet, this return is not merely a happy family reunion; it also highlights a deeper concern regarding rural employment. Despite several welfare schemes introduced by the government, many areas still fail to provide regular and sustainable livelihood opportunities for labourers. As a result, migration for work continues to be a recurring reality, forcing workers to struggle for survival away from their homes year after year. On the other hand, although the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) remains one of the major sources of rural employment, questions are being raised about its effectiveness. Many workers allege that wages are often delayed for months even after the completion of work. Such delays compel them to seek employment outside the state once again. There are also discussions in several villages that, instead of genuine labourers, some non-working job card holders are deriving greater benefits from the scheme. These allegations have raised concerns about transparency and accountability in its implementation. According to intellectuals and social activists, the problem of migration can be significantly reduced if sustainable employment opportunities are created in rural areas, skill-based livelihood options are expanded, and timely wage payments under schemes like MGNREGS are ensured. While the returning workers are happy to be back on their native soil and participate in agricultural activities, uncertainty about their future remains evident. Therefore, people believe that strong and effective measures by the government and administration are essential to address the root causes of labour migration and provide a lasting solution to this long-standing issue.

Boden:16/06 A serious concern has emerged from Kampur village under Larka Gram Panchayat of Boden Block in Nuapada district, where the Adarsha Anganwadi Centre No. 1 has fallen into a severely dilapidated condition, posing a potential threat to the safety of young children attending the centre. Despite repeated complaints from local residents and public representatives, neither the concerned departmental authorities nor the block administration have taken any concrete steps to address the issue. Established in 1982, the Anganwadi centre is one of the oldest in the village and has been serving the community for over four decades. However, after nearly 44 years of continuous use, the building is now reportedly in a dangerously weakened state. Every day, small children continue to attend classes in the deteriorating structure, raising fears among parents and villagers that an accident could occur at any moment. Residents allege that the condition of the building has worsened to such an extent that it poses a constant danger to the lives of innocent children. Concerned parents have repeatedly brought the matter to the notice of the Larka Sarpanch and the local Panchayat Samiti Member. In turn, both representatives have reportedly informed the administration on several occasions and raised the issue repeatedly during Panchayat Samiti meetings. However, villagers claim that their appeals have largely gone unheard. According to sources, Panchayat Samiti Member Amit Singh Deo recently raised the matter once again during a Panchayat Samiti meeting and urged the authorities to take immediate action. Despite these efforts, no administrative officer has reportedly visited the site for inspection, conducted an inquiry, or initiated any remedial measures. The continued inaction of the authorities has sparked frustration among local residents. Villagers are demanding an urgent inspection of the Anganwadi centre and have called for either immediate repair of the existing structure or the construction of a new building to ensure the safety of children. Warning of a possible agitation, parents and villagers have stated that if prompt action is not taken, they will be compelled to stage a demonstration and gherao the offices of the Block Development Officer (BDO) and the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO). The focus is now on the district administration and concerned departments, as residents await swift intervention before any unfortunate incident occurs. The people of Kampur village hope that the issue will finally receive the attention it deserves and that necessary measures will be taken to safeguard the future and safety of their children.

According to experts, the rising cost of gold is affecting not only the jewellery industry but also reshaping the structure of the rural economy. Families that once considered purchasing gold a priority for weddings and festivals are now exploring other options. Many are turning towards lightweight ornaments, silver jewellery, or artificial jewellery as more affordable alternatives. Members of the goldsmith community have expressed concern that unless policymakers and government authorities address the issue, this age-old craft may face even greater challenges in the years ahead. There are growing fears that a profession and art form passed down through generations could gradually decline and lose its place in society. While the shine of gold continues to grow brighter in the market, behind that glitter lies the silent struggle and uncertainty of thousands of goldsmith families. If timely attention is not given to this issue, the dazzling rise in gold prices may ultimately overshadow and erode a traditional occupation that has long been an integral part of rural life and cultural heritage.

ତାଳଚେର: ପିଇବା ପାଣିର ଘୋର ଅଭାବକୁ ନେଇ ତାଳଚେର ବ୍ଲକ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଗତ ଗୋବରା ଗ୍ରାମରେ ଜନଅସନ୍ତୋଷ ଦେଖାଦେଇଛି। ଦୀର୍ଘଦିନ ଧରି ଗ୍ରାମରେ ପିଇବା ପାଣି ସମସ୍ୟା ଲାଗି ରହିଥିବା ବେଳେ ସମସ୍ୟାର ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ସମାଧାନ ନ ହେବାରୁ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନେ ରାସ୍ତାକୁ ଓହ୍ଲାଇ ପ୍ରତିବାଦ କରିଥିଲେ। ଉତ୍ତ୍ୟକ୍ତ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନେ ସରପଞ୍ଚଙ୍କୁ ଘେରାଉ କରି ତୀବ୍ର ଅସନ୍ତୋଷ ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିଥିଲେ। ପରିସ୍ଥିତି କ୍ରମେ ଉତ୍ତେଜନାପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହୋଇପଡ଼ିବାରୁ ପୋଲିସ ଘଟଣାସ୍ଥଳରେ ପହଞ୍ଚି ହସ୍ତକ୍ଷେପ କରିଥିଲା। ପୋଲିସ ଓ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ପ୍ରଶାସନ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀଙ୍କ ସହ ଆଲୋଚନା କରାଯାଇ ସମସ୍ୟାର ସମାଧାନ ପାଇଁ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ ନିଆଯିବ ବୋଲି ପ୍ରତିଶ୍ରୁତି ଦିଆଯିବା ପରେ ଆନ୍ଦୋଳନ ଶାନ୍ତ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନେ ଶୀଘ୍ର ପିଇବା ପାଣି ସମସ୍ୟାର ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ସମାଧାନ କରିବାକୁ ଦାବି କରିଛନ୍ତି।

ମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ଶିଳ୍ପୀ, ପଟ୍ଟଚିତ୍ର ଓ ରଙ୍ଗତୁଳୀ କଳାକାର ଗଞ୍ଜାମ ଜିଲ୍ଲା କଳାକାର ସଂଘ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ସ୍ବତନ୍ତ୍ର ଏକ ପ୍ରତିନିଧି ଦଳ ତା ୧୪/୦୬/୨୬ ରିଖ ରବିବାର ଦିନ ମତ୍ସ୍ୟ ଓ ପ୍ରାଣୀସମ୍ପଦ ବିକାଶ କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ର ଓ ଅତି କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ର ମଧ୍ଯମ ଉଦ୍ୟୋଗ ମନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଗୋକୁଳାନନ୍ଦ ମଲ୍ଲିକଙ୍କୁ ବୁଗୁଡ଼ା ସ୍ଥିତ ବାସଭବନରେ ଭେଟି ସାକ୍ଷାତ କରି ଏକ ଲିଖିତ ଦାବିପତ୍ର ପ୍ରଦାନ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ଯାହାକି ସଂଘ ପଞ୍ଜିକରଣ, ଯେକୌଣସି ମୌଳିକ ସୁବିଧା ପାଇବା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରର ମନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ସହଯୋଗ କାମନା କରିବା ସହିତ ଆମ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରେ ରହି ବଙ୍ଗଳାଦେଶୀ ପିଓପି ମୂର୍ତ୍ତି କାରିଗର ଦ୍ବାରା ହେଉଥିବା ବେଆଇନ ମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ବନ୍ଦ କରି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏଠାରୁ ଘଉଡେଇବା ପାଇଁ ନିବେଦନ କରିଥିଲେ। ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚିହ୍ନଟ କରି ମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ନିର୍ମାଣ ବନ୍ଦ କରିବା ସହିତ ଏଠାରୁ ଘଉଡେଇବା ପାଇଁ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ପ୍ରଶାସନ ସହ ଆଲୋଚନା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରତିଶ୍ରୁତି ଦେଇଥିଲେ ମନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ମଲ୍ଲିକ। ଏହି ଅବସରରେ ସଂଘର ସଭାପତି ଭଗବାନ ସାହୁ, ଉପସଭାପତି ବସନ୍ତ କୁମାର ସାହୁ, ସହ ସମ୍ପାଦକ ଅକ୍ଷୟ କୁମାର ସାହୁ ସମେତ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ବ୍ଳକର କଳାକାର ସଂଘର ସଦସ୍ୟ ମାନେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ଥିଲେ।
