ପାଣି ଟୋପାଏ ପାଇଁ ସଂଘର୍ଷ: ଡୁମେର ବାହାଲରେ ଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମ ଆସିଲେ ଉଗ୍ର ହେଉଛି ଜଳସଙ୍କଟ ବର୍ଷ ବର୍ଷ ଧରି ଅବହେଳିତ ସମସ୍ୟା, ପ୍ରଶାସନିକ ନିଷ୍କ୍ରିୟତାକୁ ନେଇ ଫୁଟିଲା ଜନଅସନ୍ତୋଷ କୋମନା ରିପୋର୍ଟର: ଗିରେନ୍ଦ୍ର କୁମାର ଜଗତ : ନୂଆପଡ଼ା ଜିଲ୍ଲା କୋମନା ବ୍ଲକ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଗତ କୋନାବିରା ଗ୍ରାମପଞ୍ଚାୟତର ଡୁମେର ବାହାଲ ଗ୍ରାମରେ ପ୍ରତିବର୍ଷ ଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମ ଋତୁ ଆସିଲେ ପିଇବା ପାଣି ସମସ୍ୟା ଏକ ଗୁରୁତର ଜନସମସ୍ୟାର ରୂପ ନେଉଛି। ଭୂତଳ ଜଳସ୍ତର କ୍ରମାଗତ ଭାବେ ହ୍ରାସ ପାଉଥିବାରୁ ଗ୍ରାମର ଅଧିକାଂଶ ନଳକୂପ ଅଚଳ ହୋଇପଡ଼ୁଛି କିମ୍ବା ଅତି କମ୍ ପରିମାଣରେ ପାଣି ଯୋଗାଉଛି। ଫଳରେ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନେ ଦୈନନ୍ଦିନ ଜୀବନର ସବୁଠୁ ମୌଳିକ ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା—ପିଇବା ପାଣି ପାଇଁ ଚରମ ଦୁର୍ଭୋଗ ଭୋଗୁଛନ୍ତି। ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀଙ୍କ କହିବା ଅନୁସାରେ, ଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହେଲେ ଗ୍ରାମରେ ଜଳସଙ୍କଟ ଚରମ ସୀମାରେ ପହଞ୍ଚିଯାଏ। ଅନେକ ନଳକୂପରୁ ପାଣି ବାହାରିବା ବନ୍ଦ ହୋଇଯାଉଥିବାବେଳେ କିଛି ନଳକୂପରୁ ମାତ୍ର ଅଳ୍ପ ପରିମାଣରେ ପାଣି ମିଳୁଛି। ଏପରି ସ୍ଥିତିରେ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନେ ଦୂରଦୂରାନ୍ତକୁ ଯାଇ ପାଣି ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରିବାକୁ ବାଧ୍ୟ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି। ବିଶେଷକରି ମହିଳା, ବୃଦ୍ଧ ଓ ଶିଶୁମାନେ ଏହି ସମସ୍ୟାରେ ସର୍ବାଧିକ ପ୍ରଭାବିତ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି। ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଅଭିଯୋଗ ହେଉଛି, ବର୍ଷ ପରେ ବର୍ଷ ଏହି ସମସ୍ୟା ଲାଗି ରହିଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଶାସନ ପକ୍ଷରୁ କୌଣସି ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ ନିଆଯାଉ ନାହିଁ। ସରପଞ୍ଚ, ସମିତି ସଭ୍ୟ ଏବଂ ବ୍ଲକ ପ୍ରଶାସନଙ୍କୁ ବାରମ୍ବାର ଅବଗତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ୟାର ସମାଧାନ ଦିଗରେ ଆଖିଦୃଶିଆ ପଦକ୍ଷେପ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳିନାହିଁ। ଏପରିକି ବିଡିଓଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀ ଦାବି ଜଣାଇଥିଲେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଆଜି ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ କୌଣସି ଅଧିକାରୀ ଗ୍ରାମକୁ ଆସି ସ୍ଥିତିର ତଦାରଖ କରିନାହାନ୍ତି। ଗ୍ରାମର ଜଣେ ବାସିନ୍ଦା କହିଛନ୍ତି, “ପ୍ରତିବର୍ଷ ଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମ ଆସିଲେ ପାଣି ପାଇଁ ଆମକୁ ନାହିଁନଥିବା ହଇରାଣ ହେବାକୁ ପଡ଼ୁଛି। ଅନେକ ଥର ଜନପ୍ରତିନିଧି ଓ ପ୍ରଶାସନକୁ ଜଣାଇଛୁ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମ ଦୁଃଖ ଶୁଣିବାକୁ କେହି ନାହାନ୍ତି। ପିଇବା ପାଣି ଭଳି ମୌଳିକ ସୁବିଧାରୁ ବଞ୍ଚିତ ହେବା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଦୁଃଖଦ।” କେବଳ ପାଣି ଅଭାବ ନୁହେଁ, ଏହା ସହ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟଗତ ବିପଦ ମଧ୍ୟ ବଢ଼ୁଥିବା ନେଇ ଚିନ୍ତା ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଇଛି। ଶୁଦ୍ଧ ପାଣିର ଅଭାବ ଯୋଗୁଁ କେତେକ ପରିବାର ବାଧ୍ୟ ହୋଇ ଅନ୍ୟ ଅସୁରକ୍ଷିତ ଜଳସ୍ରୋତ ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର କରୁଛନ୍ତି, ଯାହା ଜଳବାହିତ ରୋଗର ଆଶଙ୍କାକୁ ବଢ଼ାଇ ଦେଇଛି। ଏହି ପରିସ୍ଥିତିରେ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କ୍ଷୋଭ ଦିନକୁ ଦିନ ତୀବ୍ର ହେବାରେ ଲାଗିଛି। ସମସ୍ୟାର ତୁରନ୍ତ ସମାଧାନ ଦାବିରେ ସେମାନେ ଏକାଠି ହୋଇ ଆନ୍ଦୋଳନର ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତି ଚଳାଇଥିବା ସୂଚନା ମିଳିଛି। ପ୍ରଶାସନ ଯଦି ଶୀଘ୍ର ହସ୍ତକ୍ଷେପ ନ କରେ, ତେବେ ରାସ୍ତାକୁ ଓହ୍ଲାଇ ବିକ୍ଷୋଭ ପ୍ରଦର୍ଶନ କରିବେ ବୋଲି ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀମାନେ ଚେତାବନୀ ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି। ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀଙ୍କ ପ୍ରମୁଖ ଦାବି ହେଉଛି ଗ୍ରାମରେ ନୂତନ ଗଭୀର ନଳକୂପ ସ୍ଥାପନ, ଅଚଳ ନଳକୂପଗୁଡ଼ିକର ତୁରନ୍ତ ମରାମତି ଏବଂ ଦୀର୍ଘମିଆଦୀ ପିଇବା ପାଣି ପ୍ରକଳ୍ପ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକାରୀ କରାଯିବା। ଏବେ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ବାକି ରହିଲା, ପ୍ରତିବର୍ଷର ଏହି ଜଳ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ପ୍ରତି ପ୍ରଶାସନ କେବେ ସଚେତନ ହେଉଛି ଏବଂ ଡୁମେର ବାହାଲ ଗ୍ରାମବାସୀଙ୍କୁ କେବେ ମିଳୁଛି ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ସମାଧାନ ।

District-Level Project Tour Showcases Development Initiatives in Nuapada Nuapada, Reporter: Bijay Bariha As part of the Odisha Government’s “Bikashara Dhara Odisha Sara” campaign marking two years of the state government’s tenure, a district-level Project Tour (Prakalpa Parikrama) was organized in Nuapada under the direction of District Collector Madhusudan Das. The objective of the initiative was to familiarize public representatives and members of different sections of society with the progress of various developmental projects being implemented across the district. A delegation led by Lambodar Dharua, Chief Development Officer-cum-Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Nuapada, visited several key projects, including the under-construction Atal Bus Terminal at Khariar Road, the Model Pond at Mudagaon, Smart Park, Sweta Ganga Project, Turmeric Project, and the under-construction District Cultural Bhavan at Nuapada. During the visit, the team reviewed the progress and quality standards of the ongoing projects. The programme was attended by Zilla Parishad members Bhanupratap Singh Majhi, Uma Thakur, Malyabanta Suna, and Muralidhar Bhoi. Senior citizens Sitaram Meher, Narendra Mishra, and Sushanta Kumar Rana were also present and shared their views on the state government’s developmental initiatives. Officials including Anil Kumar Lenka, Bidesh Ghosh, Tejpal Dandsena, and Pradeepta Barik of the Zilla Parishad played an active role in the successful coordination and management of the programme. The “Prakalpa Parikrama” highlighted the district’s ongoing development journey and reflected the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, public participation, and inclusive growth. The initiative also served as a platform to showcase the progress achieved under various government schemes and infrastructure projects across Nuapada district.

International Yoga Day Observed at Sinapali and Gandabahali Sinapali Reporter: Malaya Meher International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Sinapali and Gandabahali in Nuapada district, highlighting the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being. A block-level yoga gathering was organized at the Gayatri Shakti Peeth in Sinapali through the joint initiative of the Sinapali Block Administration, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, and Gayatri Shakti Peeth. Secretary of the Yoga Samiti, Naveen Chandra Meher, welcomed the participants. The programme was coordinated by Tehsil In-charge Hrushikesh Meher. Among those present were ABDO Subrata Kumar Parida, BSSO Harekrushna Naik, Assistant BSSO Omprakash Majhi, WEO Sunil Samal, Junior Engineer Lileswar Majhi, Purnachandra Meher, Tulsiram Meher, Manish Patel, Trinath Meher, Priyaranjan Meher, Nandakumar Patra, Khusiram Meher, Banshidhar Jagat, Rajesh Agrawal, and Tarun Kumar Meher. A Brilliant Mind Bids Farewell, Leaving Behind Countless Memories: Jagannath Naik Passes Away Sinapali, Reporter: Malaya Meher The untimely demise of Jagannath Naik, widely regarded as a symbol of education, intelligence, and dedication in the Singjhar region, has cast a deep shadow of grief across the area. A worthy son of Godal village and the topper of the 1991 batch of Singjhar High School, Jagannath Naik was admired and respected for his academic excellence, perseverance, and simple way of life. From his student days, he displayed exceptional talent and academic brilliance. During his time at Singjhar High School, he earned recognition as the most outstanding student of the 1991 batch. Later, while serving at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhubaneswar, he set a remarkable example of sincerity, integrity, and commitment in the field of education. According to his colleagues, friends, and former classmates, Jagannath Naik was not only an academically gifted individual but also a humble, compassionate, and socially committed person. His untimely passing has been described by many as an irreparable loss to the Singjhar High School family, the educational community, and the region as a whole. His demise has brought profound sorrow to Godal village and the entire Singjhar area. Several eminent personalities, former students, and social workers have paid heartfelt tributes to him and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. People across the region believe that the story of Jagannath Naik’s hard work, perseverance, and achievements will continue to inspire future generations. The Influence of Culture and Lifestyle: The lifestyle, traditions, occupations, food habits, and cultural practices of people vary from region to region. As a result, their languages also develop unique characteristics. People living along coastlines often have a rich vocabulary related to fishing and navigation. In contrast, communities in mountainous regions tend to use more words associated with mountains, forests, and nature. These cultural differences contribute to the distinct identity of each language. Migration and Language Mixing: Throughout history, people have migrated to new regions for trade, war, survival, natural disasters, or better opportunities. Such movements brought different language groups into contact with one another. New words were borrowed, dialects emerged, and linguistic features blended together. Over time, some of these dialects developed into entirely separate languages. Could There Have Been Only One Language? In theory, it is possible that humanity could have shared a single language. However, in reality, this did not happen because human societies have always been diverse and constantly changing. Language naturally reflects that diversity. Today, English serves as a global language of communication, yet nations continue to preserve and promote their mother tongues. Komna, June 20 A 32-year-old mason from Dharmapur village under Tarbod Gram Panchayat in Komna Block of Nuapada district has been left bedridden due to a prolonged and unidentified illness, pushing his family into severe financial distress. The family has appealed to the government for urgent medical and financial assistance. According to reports, Jaylal Kharsel (32), the sole earning member of his family, has been suffering from a serious ailment affecting his left leg for the past several years. Despite undergoing treatment at multiple hospitals and spending all available resources, his condition has not improved. Jaylal lives with his wife Jema Kharsel (27) and their two sons, Rajendra (8) and Digambar (5). He earned his livelihood as a mason and supported his family through daily labor work. The health crisis began in November 2021, when a wound developed on the big toe of his left foot. He initially sought treatment at the Tarbod Primary Health Centre and later at the District Headquarters Hospital. As his condition failed to improve, he was admitted to Thomas Hospital, Khariar Road, where doctors amputated the affected toe. Following the surgery, he recovered and resumed work. Due to a lack of employment opportunities in the area, Jaylal later migrated to Tamil Nadu for work as a mason. However, in December 2025, another wound appeared on a different toe of the same foot. The affected toe was amputated at the District Headquarters Hospital on April 3, 2026. Despite the surgeries, the infection reportedly spread further, reaching up to his knee and rendering his left leg almost completely immobile. He subsequently received treatment at Goras Hospital, Nuapada, and later at a private hospital in Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, but without significant improvement. Today, Jaylal is unable to walk or work, leaving the family without a source of income. His wife is struggling to care for her husband and two young children. The family now survives largely on the 20 kilograms of rice provided through the ration card scheme. Family members stated that they have already mortgaged their land, gold ornaments, and household utensils to bear the mounting medical expenses. With no savings left, even arranging daily meals has become a challenge. Given their poor economic condition, the family has requested the government to provide financial aid, disability pension, and advanced medical treatment so that Jaylal can receive proper healthcare and the family can overcome its current hardship.
