Bhela: An awareness camp for student members of the Student Legal Literacy Club was organised at Dr. Katju High School in Bhela under the auspices of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). The programme aimed to familiarise students with their legal rights, the importance of legal awareness and the availability of free legal assistance for eligible beneficiaries. DLSA Secretary Navaneeta Dash attended the programme and explained the objectives and functioning of the Student Legal Literacy Club. She highlighted the club’s role in spreading legal awareness among students and helping them understand the importance of access to justice and free legal services. During her address, Dash elaborated on the activities of the District Legal Services Authority and various schemes introduced by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). She discussed free legal aid, victim compensation schemes and mediation services, emphasising their significance in ensuring that people can seek justice without unnecessary financial hardship. She also encouraged students to develop a clear understanding of legal rights and responsibilities and to act as messengers of legal awareness within their schools, families and communities. The session provided an opportunity for student club members to learn about the institutional mechanisms available to support people in need of legal assistance. The initiative underscored the importance of introducing legal education at the school level to promote awareness, social responsibility and equal access to justice. The programme was attended by DLSA Secretary Navaneeta Dash, school Headmaster Bijay Kumar Behera, teachers and Adhikar Mitras.
