Constable Arrested for Allegedly Cheating ₹2 Lakh on Promise of Government Job: Lakhna Police Constable Sent to Judicial Remand

Nuapada, September 12: A police constable posted at Lakhna Police Station has been arrested for allegedly cheating a person of ₹2 lakh on the promise of securing a government job. The accused has been identified as Jogendra Bag (39), Constable No. 105, Lakhna Police Station. According to Nuapada Police, a complaint was received on September 11 from a resident of Dangargaon under Sinapali Police Station. The complainant alleged that the accused had taken ₹2 lakh from him by promising to arrange a government job. During the course of investigation, police found that the alleged amount had been deposited into the accused’s SBI bank account on January 21, 2026. Despite repeated demands, the accused allegedly neither arranged the promised job nor returned the money. Based on the evidence collected during the investigation, a prima facie case was established against the accused under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused was arrested on September 12, 2026, at around 2:10 PM and was subsequently forwarded to the Hon’ble Court for judicial remand. The incident has drawn attention as it involves an alleged fraud committed in the name of securing a government job. Police have reiterated the need for people to remain cautious about individuals who make false promises of government employment in exchange for money.
