Badminton Talent Shines at National Sports Day Celebration in Nuapada: District-level U-13, U-15 and U-17 Championship Sees Participation of 80 Young Players

Nuapada, August 29: National Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Nuapada with the organisation of a district-level badminton championship aimed at promoting sporting talent among young players. The tournament was organised by the Nuapada District Badminton Association under the aegis of the Odisha State Badminton Association at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium (MPIS), Nuapada.
The championship featured competitions in the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 categories, with around 80 young players from different parts of the district participating and showcasing their badminton skills. The matches witnessed keen competition, along with an impressive display of sportsmanship, discipline and team spirit.
The primary objective of the tournament was to encourage children to take greater interest in badminton and provide a platform for identifying and nurturing talented players from the district who can represent Nuapada at the state and national levels in the future.
The inaugural programme was attended by District Badminton Association President Santosh Pattnaik, Secretary Sudipta Bishoi, Joint Secretary Prabhanjan Sethi, Treasurer Akshaya Padhi, along with executive members Ritesh Babu, Prakash Patra and Premchand Baitharu and other members of the association. Their active involvement contributed to the successful conduct of the tournament.
At the concluding ceremony, Nuapada Collector and District Magistrate Madhusudan Dash attended as the chief guest and felicitated the winning players. Extending his greetings on National Sports Day, he encouraged young players to adopt sports as a means of building a healthy, disciplined and positive lifestyle.
Nuapada District Sports Officer Rajendra Prasad Badhei, who attended as the guest of honour, appreciated the efforts of the District Badminton Association towards promoting badminton in the district. He encouraged the young players to maintain regular practice, dedication and discipline to achieve success at higher levels of competition.
At the end of the championship, winners and runners-up in different categories were presented with trophies, medals and certificates. The event concluded successfully in the presence of association officials, coaches, parents and sports enthusiasts, creating an encouraging platform for the development of young badminton talent in Nuapada.
