Subhadra Scheme Brings Festive Cheer to 1.67 Lakh Women in Nuapada

₹83.54 Crore Disbursed as Fifth Instalment on the Occasion of Raksha Bandhan Nuapada, August 28: The auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan brought added joy to thousands of women beneficiaries in Nuapada district as the fifth instalment of the Odisha Government’s Subhadra Scheme was directly transferred to their bank accounts. A district-level programme was organised at the Multipurpose Hall near the Railway Gate in Nuapada town to mark the occasion. As many as 1,67,094 beneficiaries in the district received ₹5,000 each, amounting to a total direct transfer of ₹83 crore 54 lakh 70 thousand. The fifth instalment of the Subhadra Scheme was formally launched from a state-level programme held in Nayagarh district by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy and Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra, among other dignitaries, attended the state-level event. At the Nuapada district-level programme, MLA Jay Dholakia attended as the chief guest. District Collector Madhusudan Dash, along with senior officials and elected representatives, extended greetings to the women beneficiaries on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, MLA Jay Dholakia conveyed his greetings on Raksha Bandhan and highlighted the importance of the Subhadra Scheme in promoting women’s economic empowerment, self-reliance and dignified livelihoods. District Collector Madhusudan Dash emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment and urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the financial assistance received under the scheme. He encouraged women to invest the money in income-generating and productive activities to move towards greater financial independence. Among those present were Additional District Collector Subash Chandra Rait, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad Kshamanidhi Bhoi, District Social Welfare Officer Premlata Sethi, Nuapada Block Chairperson Tareshwari Sahu, Komna Block Chairperson Anusaya Kumbhar, Zilla Parishad Vice-Chairperson Deepika Deep and Zilla Parishad member Bhanu Pratap Singh Majhi, besides officials from various departments, public representatives, media personnel and a large number of women beneficiaries. The release of the fifth instalment on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan generated considerable enthusiasm among the beneficiaries. The dignitaries said that the Subhadra Scheme is an important initiative towards providing financial support to women, strengthening their economic independence and contributing to the overall economic development of the state. District Resource Coordinator Anil Kumar Lenka coordinated the programme.
