Monthly review meeting assesses progress of schemes; successful livestock farmers felicitated
Nuapada, August 21: The Nuapada district administration has laid emphasis on strengthening livestock farming as a sustainable source of livelihood and making livestock farmers more self-reliant. A monthly review meeting of the Animal Husbandry Department was held at the conference hall of the Collector’s Office under the chairmanship of District Collector Madhusudan Dash.
During the meeting, Chief District Veterinary Officer Dr. Sukhendu Ray presented a detailed report on the progress and implementation of various livestock development schemes being undertaken by the department.
On the occasion, leading livestock farmers who had achieved notable success under different schemes were felicitated by the District Collector with certificates of appreciation and traditional uttariyas. The awardees included Shanti Bagarti of Sinapali Block for the 3,000-bird poultry farming scheme, Bhramar Singh Majhi of Boden Block for the 2,000-bird poultry farming scheme, Premashila Punji of Komna Block for the 30+2 sheep farming scheme, Hirantini Bag of Nuapada Block for the 2,500-bird poultry farming scheme, and Madhuri of Khariar Block for the 3,000-bird poultry farming scheme.
The District Collector directed officials to accelerate livestock insurance and vaccination programmes across the district. He also stressed the need to promote fodder cultivation on a larger scale to increase milk production and strengthen the income and livelihood opportunities of livestock farmers.
The meeting also discussed ensuring that eligible livestock farmers receive the benefits of various government schemes and that field-level veterinary services and awareness programmes are strengthened for better implementation.
Veterinary officers, veterinary doctors from all blocks of the district and the felicitated livestock farmers attended the meeting. The session concluded with a vote of thanks.
