Nuapada Administration Intensifies Enforcement Drive to Make District Clean and Plastic-Free

Nuapada, In a major push towards making Nuapada a cleaner, greener and plastic-free district, the district administration intensified its inspection and enforcement activities at Tarbod Market on Saturday. The special drive was carried out under the direction of Collector Madhusudan Dash and led by Lambodar Dharua, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad. The enforcement drive focused on checking illegal liquor trade, indiscriminate dumping of waste and the use and sale of banned Single-Use Plastic (SUP) items. During the operation, violations of various rules were detected and a total fine of ₹66,000 was collected. At the same time, illegal liquor worth more than ₹2 lakh was seized by the enforcement team. The administration also took stringent action against improper disposal of waste. A fine of around ₹10,000 was collected from violators found dumping garbage in an unauthorised manner. In addition, approximately 52 kg of banned Single-Use Plastic was seized during the inspection. Officials used the opportunity to sensitise traders and members of the public about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the marketplace. They were urged to strictly refrain from using banned plastic items, dispose of waste only at designated places and contribute actively towards keeping public spaces clean. The administration made it clear that violations of environmental and cleanliness norms would not be tolerated and that enforcement measures would continue against those found flouting the rules. The drive was conducted in the presence of General Manager, District Industries Centre, Sameer Kumar Muduli; District Education Officer Prashant Mahanti; District Fisheries Officer Tushar Deep; BDO Pabitra Samal; DRC Anil Kumar Lenka; BRC Kamal Sahu, along with the Tarbod Panchayat Executive Officer, Sarpanch and other panchayat-level officials. The district administration has reiterated that such enforcement drives will continue across different areas in the coming days. The initiative aims not only to penalise violations but also to create greater public awareness and community participation in maintaining cleanliness, protecting the environment and ensuring strict compliance with regulations. With sustained enforcement and public cooperation, the administration is working towards transforming Nuapada into a cleaner, healthier and plastic-free district.
