In a significant step towards building a healthier and addiction-free society, the district-level inauguration of the "10 Crore Drug-Free Pledge Campaign" under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Mission Spandan was held on Tuesday at the Sadbhavana Auditorium in Nuapada.
The campaign, organized by the Medical Wing of the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, aims to inspire 10 crore citizens across the country to adopt a drug-free lifestyle and actively contribute to creating an addiction-free India through awareness and collective participation.
Nuapada Collector Madhusudan Dash, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest, inaugurated the campaign by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that the vision of a drug-free society can only be achieved through collective responsibility, public awareness, and active community participation. He urged citizens to become ambassadors of the campaign and spread the message of a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle.
Speaking on the occasion, Brahma Kumari Anita and Brahma Kumari Sumati highlighted the harmful physical, mental, and social consequences of substance abuse. They explained that regular practice of Rajyoga meditation and yoga strengthens inner resilience, enhances self-control, and helps individuals overcome addiction while leading a balanced and value-based life.
As part of the programme, an awareness poster on Nasha Mukt Bharat was unveiled. All participants later took a solemn pledge to support the mission by remaining free from addiction themselves and by creating awareness against substance abuse within their families, workplaces, and communities.
Among those present were Nabanita Dash, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority; Dr. Dwarikanath Satpathy, Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer; Rajendra Prasad Badhei, District Sports Officer; Ramakanta Biswas, District Information and Public Relations Officer; along with district-level officials from various departments, media representatives, and a large number of participants.
The campaign concluded with a strong message that achieving a drug-free India requires sustained public awareness, individual commitment, and collective action, making the initiative a significant step towards social transformation in Nuapada district.
