Public Demands Attention to Poor Road Conditions Alongside Vehicle Checking

Dharambandha: A Motor Vehicle (MV) checking drive was conducted by Dharambandha Police Station in Nuapada district yesterday to enforce traffic regulations, ensure road safety, and take legal action against traffic rule violators. The initiative has been welcomed by the public as an important step towards improving traffic discipline. However, the drive has also sparked discussion among local residents regarding another critical issue—the poor condition of the very road where the vehicle checking was carried out. Several stretches of the road are in a deplorable state, with large potholes and damaged asphalt creating serious inconvenience for daily commuters. During the monsoon season, the situation becomes even more hazardous, increasing the risk of accidents. According to local residents, road safety cannot be ensured merely through vehicle inspections and the collection of penalties. Well-maintained and safe roads are equally essential in preventing accidents and ensuring smooth transportation. They have urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to repair and maintain the damaged road. Local citizens and intellectuals have emphasized that true road safety depends not only on strict enforcement of traffic laws but also on the development and maintenance of safe road infrastructure.
