Sinapali, July 12 Marking the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led Central Government, an Intellectuals’ and Retired Employees’ Conference was organised at the Raj Darbar Hall in Khariar, Nuapada district. The event served as a platform to reflect on the government’s achievements while highlighting key developmental priorities for the Khariar region. The programme was attended by Kalahandi Member of Parliament Malvika Devi as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, she said that the Modi Government had set a remarkable record by providing stable governance over the past 12 years and implementing several landmark decisions and transformative reforms. She emphasized that achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047” would require the active participation and collective efforts of every citizen. She also underlined the important role of intellectuals and retired government employees in taking welfare schemes to the grassroots level and creating greater public awareness. During the interaction, participants presented several long-pending developmental demands before the Member of Parliament. These included railway connectivity to Khariar, implementation of the Tikhali–Lower Indra Mega Pipeline Irrigation Project, construction of the Udanti Barrage, land allotment and provisional recognition for the Khariar Women’s Degree College, improved traffic management within Khariar town, and the construction of road dividers on the town’s main roads, among other civic infrastructure projects. Responding to the representations, the MP assured the gathering that she would take up these issues with both the Central and State Governments and make every effort to facilitate their early consideration. The conference witnessed the participation of a large number of intellectuals, retired teachers, former government employees, and women from across the constituency. Speakers also discussed the impact of several flagship welfare programmes of the Central Government, including the Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Annapurna Yojana, highlighting their contribution to improving the lives of beneficiaries. The programme concluded with a collective resolve to work together for the holistic development of the Khariar Assembly constituency and to strengthen public participation in the region’s development journey.
