Sinapali, July 6:
Frequent power outages, persistent low-voltage issues, and delays in restoring electricity have triggered growing public resentment against TPWODL in Sinapali of Nuapada district. Despite repeated complaints from consumers, residents allege that there has been no noticeable improvement in the quality of power supply, leaving many frustrated.
According to local consumers, repeated attempts to contact the Section Junior Engineer (JE) of the Sinapali Grid during power disruptions often go unanswered. As a result, people are left with no immediate point of contact during emergencies. Even after complaints are registered, repair teams reportedly fail to reach the affected areas on time, forcing residents to remain without electricity for several hours.
The situation has become more severe during the monsoon season, with frequent outages and low-voltage problems disrupting normal life. Residents say the irregular power supply has adversely affected businesses, agricultural activities, drinking water supply, and students’ studies.
Villagers further alleged that while complaints are routinely acknowledged with assurances of “early restoration,” the actual problems remain unresolved. Many residents sarcastically remark that “TPWODL is quicker at giving assurances than resolving consumers’ grievances.”
As the same issues continue without any long-term solution, public dissatisfaction is steadily mounting. Residents have urged TPWODL authorities to improve the quality of electricity supply, ensure prompt redressal of complaints, and respond to consumer grievances with greater accountability and responsibility.
They have also warned that if the situation remains unchanged, they may be compelled to launch a large-scale public protest in the coming days.
