Accused Arrested in Assault Case Over Previous Enmity; Forwarded to Court

Boden, July 4: Boden Police in Nuapada district have arrested an accused in connection with an assault case involving a woman from Larka village under Boden Police Station limits. The accused was arrested and produced before the court after police investigation reportedly established his involvement in the incident. Further investigation is underway. According to police, Boden Police Station Case No. 142, dated June 15, 2026, was registered under Sections 296, 351(2), 74, 115(2), and 117(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In her written complaint, the victim alleged that on June 14, 2026, at around 5:00 p.m., the accused, owing to previous enmity, abused her in obscene language, threatened to kill her, and attacked her with a wooden stick (lathi). The assault caused a bleeding injury to her hand, following which the accused fled the spot. Acting on the complaint, Boden Police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the course of the inquiry, investigators reportedly collected sufficient evidence establishing the accused’s involvement. Based on the evidence, the accused was arrested on July 4 and later forwarded to the competent court for necessary legal proceedings. Police officials stated that the investigation is still in progress, and further legal action will be taken if additional evidence or facts emerge during the course of the investigation.
