Will the Doctors’ Strike Come to an End?
Crucial Meeting Between Health Minister and OMSA Today; Hopes Rise for Restoration of Normal Healthcare Services Nuapada, July With healthcare services across Odisha severely affected due to the doctors’ agitation that has continued for the past three days, the state government has finally stepped up efforts to resolve the crisis. A crucial meeting between the State Health and Family Welfare Minister and the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) is scheduled to be held on July 4, raising hopes among doctors as well as the general public for an early resolution. According to Letter No. 18352/H issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the meeting will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in the office chamber of the Hon’ble Health Minister. OMSA State President Dr. Kishore Chandra Mishra and General Secretary Dr. Sanjeeb Kumar Pradhan have been formally invited by the government to participate in the discussions. The meeting is expected to focus on the various demands raised by OMSA. The government has also urged the association to help restore normal healthcare services at the earliest in the interest of the public. The ongoing strike has significantly disrupted medical services in government hospitals across the state. Thousands of patients, particularly those from economically weaker sections, have been facing immense hardship due to delays in treatment and the disruption of outpatient and other essential healthcare services. Against this backdrop, all eyes are now on today’s high-level meeting. There is widespread expectation that constructive dialogue between the government and the doctors’ association will pave the way for a mutually acceptable solution. If the talks prove successful, the doctors are likely to withdraw their agitation, allowing healthcare services across Odisha to return to normal and bringing much-needed relief to patients.
