Love, Promise and Alleged Betrayal: Romantic Dispute in Sinapali Draws Public Attention, Police Launch Neutral Investigation
Sinapali: A controversial love affair dispute from the Sinapali area of Nuapada district has come to the forefront, sparking widespread discussion across the region. Allegations involving a five-year-long relationship, a promise of marriage, physical intimacy, and subsequent refusal to marry have brought the matter into the public spotlight. While a young woman has levelled serious allegations against her boyfriend, the accused and his family have strongly denied the claims, describing them as false and motivated. Police have initiated an investigation, and local residents are closely following the developments. According to reports, a young woman from Tulasipada village under Baijalpur in Gorla Gram Panchayat of Sinapali police limits has filed a complaint against a youth, identified as Ghanshyam Majhi of the same village. The complainant alleged that the two had been in a romantic relationship for nearly five years. During this period, the accused had reportedly promised to marry her, and based on that assurance, the relationship became increasingly close. The woman further alleged that when she repeatedly raised the issue of marriage, the accused began avoiding the matter and eventually refused to marry her. She also claimed to have learned that he was making arrangements to marry someone else. Following these developments, she approached the Sinapali Police Station seeking justice. However, she expressed dissatisfaction, alleging that no immediate and firm action had been taken on her complaint. On the other hand, the accused youth and his family have categorically rejected the allegations. According to them, the complaint is false and has been filed with the intention of blackmailing the family and tarnishing their social reputation. They stated that they have full faith in the police investigation and are willing to cooperate with the inquiry. Addressing the matter, Sinapali Police said that the investigation is being conducted in a fair and impartial manner. Statements from both parties have been recorded, and investigators are examining mobile call records, social media communications, messages, photographs, and other digital evidence. Statements from local residents are also being collected as part of the inquiry. The incident has also drawn reactions from social organisations, intellectuals, and local residents, who have appealed for restraint and caution. They emphasized that no individual should be declared guilty or innocent until the investigation is completed and all facts are verified through due legal process. As the matter moves through legal channels, public attention remains focused on the outcome of the police investigation. What began as a personal relationship has now become a matter of public interest, with many awaiting the truth that the ongoing inquiry may reveal.
